Neighborhood Improvement Matching Grant Program is sponsored by City of Apopka. While not exclusively for youth sports, this program assists Apopka neighborhoods with improvements. If a youth sports team's facilities are part of a neighborhood common area, this could be a relevant grant.

The City of Apopka’s Non-Profit Grant Program provides financial assistance to school organizations/booster clubs, tax-exempt, and or non-profit organizations committed to supporting youth, at-risk individuals, and senior-focused initiatives.

This program is designed to build strong community partnerships and invest in projects that promote academic achievement, reduce juvenile crime, and enhance safety and well-being for both young people, those at-risk, and/or senior citizens. Grant awards range from $500 to $5,000 and require a minimum 50% match from applicants, which may include a combination of cash contributions and in-kind donations.

School Organizations or Booster Clubs Federally Tax-Exempt and or Non-Profit Organizations Funds must be used on projects which benefit the members of the Apopka area community.

Project must offer programming for youth, at-risk individuals, and/ or senior citizens. Applicants must be in existence for at least one year. Applicants must ensure a minimum of 50% match of the requested grant funds.

Applicants must provide a 5-minute presentation on their application/program at the Non-Profit Grant Program Selection Committee scoring meeting and has the opportunity to provide a 5-minute program recap presentation to the committee at the completion of the grant period. Applicants may have only one active grant at any given time. The award period is 12 months from the date of the grant award.

Applicants may only have one grant active at a time. The total match must equal or exceed at a minimum 50% of the amount being requested from the City of Apopka. A combination of cash and or/in kind goods or services can be used as match.

In-kind or cash donations from City of Apopka discretionary funds cannot be counted as a match for this program. Match Component Source Contribution In-Kind Goods or Services Supporting Groups/Organizations A maximum of 50% of the grant award Cash Cash contributions or donations Unlimited Grants will support prevention and intervention programs that serve at-risk youth.

Which includes programs such as: After-school and out-of-school enrichment Mental, physical, or behavioral health services Abuse and neglect prevention Initiatives that promote healthy choices and positive decision-making Grants are intended to support at-risk individuals and family-focused programs.

Which include programs such as: Services designed to assist seniors, disabled, and unhoused individuals Programs that promote economic self-efficiency Food assistance and nutrition programs Grant funds may be used for direct services including: New program development or expansion of existing programs Community collaborations and partnerships Direct assistance to targeted populations Educational and outreach activities Electronic hardware (valued at $1,000 or less) necessary for program delivery Operating equipment (valued at $1,000 or less) necessary for program delivery Costs related to staff/volunteer background checks Grant funds may not be used for: Supplementing an organization’s regular operating budget Replacing other sources of operational funding Supporting for-profit individuals or entities Indirect administrative costs (e.g., administrative fees, non-program-specific expenses, licenses, insurance) Purchasing goods or services unrelated to the program’s goals Electronic hardware or equipment valued over $1,000 Proposal Submission Guidelines Use our City of Apopka Non-Profit Grant Application online form to submit your application.

A proposal may be withdrawn by written request from an authorized representative. Submission Review & Scoring All submissions received during an active application window will be vetted for completeness by City of Apopka staff. Qualified submissions will be provided to the City of Apopka Non-Profit Grant Program Selection Committee for review and scoring.

A public scoring meeting will be held with the City of Apopka Non-Profit Grant Program Selection Committee to finalize an award recommendation to City Council. City Council will have final award approval at a regularly scheduled City Council meeting. A review panel will evaluate each proposal and submit recommendations to the Apopka City Council.

City of Apopka Non-Profit Grant Program Selection Committee The City of Apopka Non-Profit Grant Program Selection Committee will evaluate each proposal received during the grant application window and submit recommendations for award to the Apopka City Council.

The committee panel will consist of five representatives from the Apopka Community, with each elected official nominating a single representative to the City of Apopka Non-Profit Grant Program Selection Committee.
