Technical Assistance Webinar: The Equipment Grants Program (EGP) The Equipment Grants Program seeks to provide eligible institutions with the opportunity to acquire a shared-use piece of equipment/instrument that supports their research, research training, and extension goals. The National Institute of Food and Agriculture provides leadership and funding for programs that advance agriculture-related sciences.
New Beginning for Tribal Students Program The purpose of the NBTS grant program, Assistance Listing 10. 527, is to increase the retention and graduation rate of Tribal students attending 1994, 1862, and 1890 Land-grant Institutions.
The primary goals and objectives of the program are for Land-grant Colleges or Universities to use NBTS funding to support Tribal students through all the following, but not limited to: recruiting; tuition and related fees; experiential learning; student services, including tutoring; counseling; academic advising; and other student services that would increase the retention and graduation rate of Tribal students enrolled at Land-grant Colleges or Universities.

New Beginning for Tribal Students (NBTS) Other or Additional Information (See below) More Information on Eligibility Section 7120 of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (P. L. 115-334) amends the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C.
3221 et seq.) to add section 1450, 7 U.S.C. § 3222e, to authorize the New Beginning for Tribal Students (NBTS) competitive grants program.
General Provision 773 of the Fiscal Year 2020 Further Consolidated Appropriations Act (P. L. 116-94) provided $5 million in discretionary funds to carry out this program.
This legislation authorized the Secretary to make competitive grants to land-grant colleges and universities to provide support targeted at Tribal students. Land-grant colleges and universities includes1862, 1890 and 1994 land-grant institutions.
Tribal student is defined in this legislation as a student at a land-grant college or university that is a member of an Indian tribe as defined in section 4 of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (25 U.S.C 5304).
