New Hampshire — The 1772 Foundation 2026 New Hampshire Historic Preservation Matching Grants for Private Non-Profit Organizations in cooperation with the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance The 1772 Foundation has announced that funding in the form of 1:1 matching grants of up to $10,000 will be made available for the following historic preservation projects: exterior painting, finishes and surface restoration upgrade to/installation of fire detection, lightning protection, and security systems repairs to/restoration of porches, roofs, and windows structural foundation and sill repair/replacement chimney and masonry repointing Applicants must submit a condition assessment or other information demonstrating their understanding of the building’s significance and priority needs that has been prepared or updated within the last five years.
Applicants must also submit a cyclical maintenance plan [models are available from the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance]. Preservation projects are strongly encouraged to adhere to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. All organizations that wish to be considered must complete the online Letter of Inquiry Form.
The letter should include: the amount of your request, the purpose of the grant including the name and address of the historic resource for which project funding will be used, the projected impact of the grant, the matching funds you have or plan to have by the application due date, the time frame for project completion and ownership status (own or long-term lease) for the site.
Also, please attach a current photo which best shows site condition, no more than 1. 5MB, and provide web address for the site/organization. Letters of inquiry will be accepted through December 1, 2025.
Invited applicants will be notified on December 13, 2025. Applications will be due february 13, 2026. Not all letters of inquiry will result in invitations to submit full applications.
To be eligible to apply, organizations must have a 501(c)(3) IRS designation. Organizations also must have closed any previously awarded 1772 Foundation matching grants to be eligible to apply. Funding will not be provided to school or religious organizations, or other government bodies (local, state, or federal), and is not available for government-owned buildings.
