New Mexico Small Business Assistance | NMSBA Solving Small Business Challenges Through Laboratory Expertise Proposals for 2026 Leveraged Projects are Now Open Get help from national laboratories at no cost to your business.
The New Mexico Small Business Assistance (NMSBA) Program provides New Mexico small businesses facing technical challenges access to the unique expertise and capabilities of Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories. At no cost to the business, small businesses can seek assistance from lab scientists and engineers to solve challenges and overcome barriers to company success. Since 2000, the two national laboratories have provided $80.
6 million in technical assistance to 3,267 businesses enabling 11,116 jobs to be created and retained across the state’s 33 counties. The New Mexico Small Business Assistance Program provides technical assistance to businesses through national laboratory expertise, but does not offer cash, investments, or exchange goods and services. [ US SBA guidelines ] Is your company US owned and operated? Does your company pay/file gross receipts taxes to the State of New Mexico? If you answered YES to all of these questions , you can qualify for up to $40,000 in research hours.

At no cost to the business, small businesses with a technical challenge can seek assistance from lab scientists or engineers for projects that require testing, design consultation and access to special equipment or facilities that are not available in the private sector.
