Apply for a Grant | Nghhc The North Georgia Housing & Homeless Council provides grants to support ministries serving people who are homeless or living with very low incomes across the North Georgia United Methodist Annual Conference. Please read the following information carefully before beginning an application.
Be a local United Methodist Church or non-profit organization (recognized by the IRS) serving people who are homeless or very low-income within the North Georgia Conference. Non-profit organizations must have an ongoing relationship with a United Methodist Church, which will serve as the endorsing church for the application.
Please note the Housing and Homeless Council does not fund preschool, after school, or summer camp programs unless they are specifically for children who are experiencing homelessness. NGHHC offers several types of grants throughout the year: Up to $2,500 to support ongoing ministry operations. Awarded during the Fall grant cycle.
Up to $10,000 for construction, renovation, or durable fixtures and appliances related to housing or permanent facilities. Awarded during the Spring grant cycle. Up to $5,000 to support Habitat for Humanity projects.
Awarded during the Spring grant cycle. Up to $1,000 for urgent or unexpected needs. Availability is vey limited; please contact the NGHHC office before applying.
Organizations may submit one application at a time . Grant funds must be expended within one year of receipt. Grant recipients are only eligible to receive funding once every 24 months .
Capital grant requests must include cost estimates or contractor bids . Capital grants will not be awarded for the same project previously funded. United Methodist Church applicants are required to participate in the Homeless Offering .
District Superintendent Consultation Applicants are required to consult with the District Superintendent of the endorsing church’s district prior to submitting an application. Applications will not be considered without this consultation.
North Georgia Annual Conference Districts Complete online application form for the appropriate grant type Include current budget and leadership information At least 3 bids or estimates are required for capital grant requests Ask partner United Methodist Church to complete the Endorsing Church Form If you are a United Methodist Church complete on your own behalf Contact your District Superintendent to notify them of your application.
If applicable, complete an Expenditure Report (more information below) for the most recent NGHHC grant if not yet submitted. All applications must be submitted online . Paper applications are not accepted.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Applications must be submitted by the deadline to be considered: Spring Grant Cycle: March 1* (Grant decisions are announced by June 1) Fall Grant Cycle: September 1* (Grant decisions are announced by December 1) *If a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, applications are due the next business day.
If you have received a grant in either 2023, 2024, or 2025, please complete the Expenditure Report form . Please include any relevant documentation. New awards will not be made without the completion of the Expenditure Report.
