The scheme addresses the delivery, organisation, funding and access to services and programs that affect the health of Australians. Research may involve preventative programs, primary and community health care, hospitals, community services, the health workforce and infrastructure. In 2026 there will be three peer review cycles.

Applications must be joint submissions from an NHMRC-approved Administering Institution and one or more Partner Organisations. Partner Organisations must make a combined total contribution of at least the same value (in cash and/or in-kind) as is sought from NHMRC. The level of funding requested from NHMRC must not exceed the total contribution from the Partner Organisations.

The maximum amount of funding that can be requested from NHMRC for a Partnership Project grant is $1. 5 million. Step 1.

Internal Notice of Intent (NOI) All researchers intending to submit an NHMRC Partnership Project application are required to submit an internal Notice of Intent . NOIs will be collated centrally and distributed to Faculties and Institutes in order to provide maximum support to the UQ research community. Submit UQ Notice of Intent Step 2.

Sapphire updates and scheme reading Familiarise yourself with the key National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), External Funding Organisations and UQ documentation (see Key Documents below). Applications are submitted via Sapphire. If you do not have a Sapphire account, register for Sapphire and complete your profile.

Ensure all investigators have registered for Sapphire and have completed their profile. NOTE: Submission of a registration form and activation of a Sapphire account must occur at least 72 hours before application close. Requests for Sapphire accounts/activations after this time cannot be guaranteed.

Step 3. Completing the application Upload all relevant attachments and ensure all investigators have accepted their invitations. Step 4.

UQR&I internal review and feedback Sapphire application completion: Ahead of internal review, ensure all online components are complete and valid in Sapphire and supporting documents have been uploaded. Sapphire Certification/Submit to RAO : Select 'Certification' from the left-hand menu within your application and follow the instructions to submit the application to the RAO.

UQ Certification: Complete and submit your Funding Application Certification in MyResearch . Information and training resources for MyResearch can be found here . UQR&I Review Request: Email UQ R&I at nhmrc@research.

uq. edu. au to request review.

UQ R&I will review your application and feedback provided as selected in your NOI (content/refinement/eligibilty and compliance). Please note that applications must meet the UQ R&I internal deadline to receive content review. Review cycles will continue until the application is compliant with NHMRC and UQ requirements.

Certify your application to RAO in Sapphire. This can only be completed by the CIA. With your approval, UQ R&I will submit your application to the NHMRC.

Partners Organisations and Waivers Applications are required to include Partner Organisations whose decisions and actions affect health, health policy and health care delivery in ways that improve the health of Australians. Each Partner Organisation must demonstrate, through the application and Partner support letter, how they will function as a policy/practice partner for the purpose of the application.

Please review the scheme Guidelines for more information on Partner Organisation requirements. NHMRC Administering Institutions cannot be named as Partner Organisations unless they are primarily involved in delivering health policy and/or health services.

If this is the case applicants must apply to the NHMRC to seek a waiver to include such organisations in their application as a Partner Organisation in advance of the relevant deadline as listed in the Key Dates section above. Contact UQ R&I via nhmrc@research. uq.
