Nikon x Black Women Photographers Grant Fund is sponsored by Nikon and Black Women Photographers. This year-long initiative supports Black women photographers through four quarterly grant opportunities. Each recipient receives a cash award and a camera kit to support their photography projects and ventures.

Black Women Photographers x Nikon $50K Grant Fund — Black Women Photographers The 2026 Black Women Photographers x Nikon Grant Program is a year-long initiative designed to support creators through four quarterly grant opportunities. Each grant recipient will receive: (1) $2,500 USD cash grant (1) Nikon Z6III 24-70mm f/4 lens kit Applications for the third quarter grant are now open. Apply by August 16, 2026.

Quarter 1 Grant Recipient Rondasia Lamaria - Mooresville, North Carolina “Receiving this grant is truly an honor, and I’m deeply grateful to the Black Women Photographers organization, along with Nikon and their partnership, for intentionally creating space for creatives like myself to be seen, supported, and elevated.

As the owner of Royal Lilac Productions: Photo, Cinema and Design, I don’t just create images I build experiences through photography, cinema, graphic design, and custom apparel. My work is rooted in storytelling, where every visual element comes together to capture meaningful moments, create lasting memories, and preserve legacy in a way that feels both timeless and intentional.

To be recognized in this way is not only affirming, but deeply humbling. This opportunity represents more than financial support; it is an investment in vision, in purpose, and in the continued growth of a brand that is built on creativity, versatility, and excellence.

This grant allows me to further refine my craft across multiple creative disciplines, expand my reach, and continue offering a seamless, elevated experience for my clients where their stories are not only captured, but fully brought to life. I am incredibly thankful to stand in a space where my work is valued, and even more inspired to continue creating with depth, intention, and purpose.

I am deeply grateful to both organizations for creating opportunities for stories and projects like mine to be amplified.

It is deeply validating to have been selected for this award. Over the years, #FindThatLizard has evolved beyond the screen. I created the Lizard Art Walk, a community event that combines guided nature walks with ceramic sculpture sessions, where participants find lizards in the field and then sculpt the ones they saw from clay.

I fundraised to establish a scholarship program that has distributed nearly $6,000 to girls, women, and gender non-conforming people pursuing herpetology. And now, in partnership with Weldon Owen, #FindThatLizard is becoming a book. This grant makes that book possible at the level it deserves.

When I'm out in the field, I'm making an argument for why they matter and why having diverse voices in herpetology matters. I am excited to use the Nikon Z6III to make that argument as beautifully and precisely as I know how.

The cash award supports funding for the field trips I need to photograph all 26 target lizard species across the U.S. Together, these resources are an investment in a creative practice built on joy, curiosity, representation, and the idea that a photograph of a hidden lizard can change how someone sees the natural world.

#FindThatLizard is driven by a simple belief: everyone has a place in nature, and no one should be excluded from outdoor spaces, wildlife careers, or the joy of discovering a lizard hiding in plain sight because of their skin color, their gender, or whether they grew up seeing people who looked like them doing this work. I am beyond grateful to Black Women Photographers and Nikon for supporting me in this important work.

” Quarter 3 Grant Recipient Quarter 4 Grant Recipient “While receiving the Z6II and lenses was significant, the opportunities that followed through Black Women Photographers truly changed the trajectory of my career. Months after receiving the grant, I was hired by the Clinton Foundation through the BWP database to photograph the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting.

This opportunity opened doors I had been working toward for a long time. I am deeply grateful for the ecosystem BWP has built and continues to steward so intentionally. ” — Andriana Ortiz, a BWP x Nikon 2024 grant recipient.

Grace Ekpu - Lagos, Nigeria The project: Through the lens of personal stories, Bridging Pain illuminates the resilience and fortitude of individuals grappling with sickle cell anemia. The documentary explores the disparities in healthcare access across different regions, with a focus on Africa and the diaspora. The common thread that binds these diverse experiences is pain.

Through observational storytelling and interviews, the film explores the stark contrasts in healthcare access, survival strategies, life choices, and the profound impact of this debilitating disease on relationships. It also underscores how access to advanced medical care and support systems can significantly enhance the quality of life for those living with sickle cell anemia.

8 Nija Howard - New York, New York Ashleigh Sterling - Washington, DC "I am overwhelmed with joy about this grant to produce my documentary film project. Also, this is the first time I have personally gotten a grant of this kind. I was positive and I took a leap of faith to apply.

While waiting, I continued developing the project and decided I could make a ‘short’ however way I could, because I would not give up with or without a grant. Sickle cell disease affects us on the African continent and our people in the diaspora. It is very personal to me as someone with sickle cell traits from the country with the highest cases and where access to good healthcare is a huge problem.

The support to actualise this project is everything! I am grateful to the Black Women Photographers team and Nikon for finding the project worthy of support, especially in these challenging times of economic and political uncertainty. Thank you so much for lifting black women creatives like me up.

It's easy to allow all of the noise to make you think you aren't worthy of great things, and to disqualify yourself before you even began. I have never ever owned a piece of new camera equipment. I no longer have to rent better equipment for my high profile gigs. Winning the Z6ii is life changing.

Recipient: Tiffany Sutton - St. Louis, Missouri Growing up in the Midwest, Tiffany J. Sutton found herself in predominantly white spaces.

She began photographing Black women as a way of reconnecting to a part of her culture that she felt was missing and to talk about social movements. She never imagined that her photography would reach anyone beyond her hometown of St. Louis.

At the beginning of 2022, Sutton was announced as the winner of a $10,000 grant presented by the Black Women Photographers collective and Nikon. Camera equipment from Nikon and $40,000 in grants were distributed among 12 photographers, including Sutton, to further their practice and projects.

Honestly, I haven't taken it off my camera since I bought it. It gives me the versatility I need for most of the projects I shoot. This project for example, was set around celebrating the triumphs of a Black Belgian dancer and influencer during women's history month.

I love the quality I was able to get with these images thanks to my new lens." "I had gotten a fellowship that only catered to the production of the work, which also wasn't enough, and I found myself scraping around to sustain me and the project all at once. When I won the $3000, I was ecstatic!

I have applied to alot of grants and never really got a chance to actually win, so this really made me feel seen and had, and because of how sensitive the queer work I do in the mostly homophobic countries, this was an affirmation that we can also make it."
