Research to Operations Project – Unified Forecast System Research to Operations Project The success of the Unified Forecast System (UFS) depends on the communities of researchers and users in both the public and private sectors. This requires that the forecast goals and development needs of the UFS be documented and provided to the research community (operations to research, O2R).
It is also necessary to provide the pathway for community research to contribute to the operational forecast models (research to operations, R2O). Visit the project website The Unified Forecast System (UFS) is a community-based, coupled, comprehensive Earth modeling system. The UFS numerical applications span local to global domains and predictive time scales from sub-hourly analyses to seasonal predictions.
It is designed to support the Weather Enterprise and to be the source system for NOAA’s operational numerical weather prediction applications.

2026 Community Climate Resilience Grant Program is sponsored by King County, Washington. This program provides funding for frontline communities disproportionately impacted by climate change to develop new or expand existing community-based climate resilience projects within King County limits. Projects should align with Sustainable & Resilient Frontline Communities Focus Areas and have immediate, tangible outcomes related to increasing education/awareness or increasing adaptation/resilience in the face of local climate change impacts such as food/housing/utility affordability, extreme weather (especially heat), wildfire smoke, and flooding.
