As such, the agency acquires and disburses various federal, state and nonprofit grant funds. DEQ administers the money to fund watershed implementation projects, watershed roundtable activities, demonstration and educational programs, and nonpoint source pollution control activities.
DEQ also develops technical resources and materials that can be used throughout the Commonwealth of VA to assist in addressing water quality issues associated with nonpoint source pollution. The Office of Watersheds and Local Government Assistance Programs administers various NPS grant programs using funds from the federal government, nonprofit organizations or foundations, and the Virginia legislature.
Listed below are some of the NPS funding programs administered by DEQ as well as other alternative funding resources to help agencies, non-agency partners, non-profits and citizens acquire funding resources to address the sources of nonpoint source pollution.

DEQ has developed resources and materials to assist recipients of DEQ's grant funds in administering their NPS implementation projects to assure they are compliant with all state and federal requirements. These materials may also assist organizations and entities seeking DEQ NPS funds with developing more successful implementation project proposals.
