The NNSA Office of Nuclear Detonation Detection (NA-222) within the Office of Nonproliferation Research and Development (NA-22) has the responsibility to apply the broad base of U.S. expertise that has been acquired in testing nuclear weapons and support disciplines to improve national capabilities to detect, locate and identify nuclear explosions and to provide cost-effective technologies, algorithms, hardware, and software to U.S. government agencies that are responsible for nuclear explosion monitoring.
The AFRL has the responsibility to execute Department of Defense (DoD) R D related to nuclear explosion monitoring.
