FoundationCCC awards Nursing Education Investment Grants to support projects that facilitate, coordinate with, or complement efforts to educate and train nurses through California community colleges.
Grant funding is provided by the Nursing Education Investment Fund established in 2005 through an agreement between FoundationCCC, WellPoint, Inc., and the Insurance Commissioner for the State of California, and is designed to benefit nursing education within the California Community College system. FoundationCCC maintains the fund and administers grantmaking.
Reporting Information for Current Grantees All grantees are required to submit progress reports as part of their grant agreement with FoundationCCC. For grantees who were awarded funds prior to 2021, the necessary report templates are provided below. Reports are due by email to advancement@foundationccc.
org on or before the reporting deadlines listed in each grantee’s agreement. She received a scholarship from the FoundationCCC’s Nursing Education Investment Grants program that provides support to nursing students who had a bachelor’s degree in another field to continue on to earn their MSN degree. Cortney has a bachelor’s degree in neurobiology from the University of California, Davis.
After a seven-year hiatus, Cortney returned to American River College and completed her Associate of Science in nursing. The grant provided the opportunity for Cortney to continue her nursing education without completing a second bachelor’s degree. Cortney was able to begin her nursing career while completing the transition courses necessary to go into the MSN program.
“I would like to use my MSN degree to help guide and further empower nursing students and new graduate nurses throughout their nursing journey through the role of a nurse educator, while also instilling the importance of providing culturally congruent care to our patients.
” California State University, Sacramento Nancy is a Hartnell College student who received a scholarship supported by FoundationCCC’s Nursing Education Investment Grants Program funding. She is enrolled in Hartnell’s nursing program and also is registered to participate in CSU Monterey Bay’s BSN summer program.
Nancy plans to become a nurse practitioner and focus on geriatric care in the rural setting of her community in Salinas Valley because she believes it is where the most help is needed. She wants to provide care to the elderly, the low-income, and the minority community. In addition, she wishes to use her background and culture to bond with future patients and help them feel understood and cared for and states.
