NHCF Scholarships – Forms The Nebraska Health Care Foundation (NHCF) supports those continuing their education in long-term care by awarding a variety of scholarships each year. Funds for nursing scholarships are made available through Health Care Information Systems and The Vetter Foundation, in conjunction with NHCF. Dietary scholarship funds are made available through Sysco Lincoln, in partnership with NHCF.
Congressional Briefing scholarship funds are made available through Nye Health Services, The Olson Group, and Quality First Insurance, LLC, in partnership with NHCF. Quarterly Medication Aide Scholarship Applications Nebraska Health Care Foundation offers two (2) Medication Aide Scholarships per quarter to assist qualified persons who wish to become a medication aide in a Nebraska nursing facility and/or assisted living community.
The scholarship application opens in January, April, July, and October and closes at the end of March, June, September, and December. Scholarship recipients and non-recipients are notified the month following the close of the application period.
Quarterly Basic Nursing Aide Scholarship Applications Nebraska Health Care Foundation offers three (3) $500 scholarships per quarter to assist qualified persons with expenses related to becoming a nurse aide who will work in a Nebraska nursing facility and/or assisted living community. By submitting the request, the applicant is attesting that funds will be used for educational expenses.
The application opens in January, April, July, and October and closes at the end of March, June, September, and December. Recipients and non-recipients are notified the month following the close of the application period. View Nebraska Health Care Learning Center medication aide and nurse aide courses.
The application period for the 2023 Annual Scholarships is now open until March 5, 2023. Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Scholarships — Six (6) scholarships are offered to individuals wishing to attend an Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care seminar offered by the Nebraska Nursing Facility Association/Nebraska Assisted Living Association.
Activity Director Scholarship — One (1) scholarship up to $400 is offered to an individual wishing to complete an activity director training approved by Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. Social Service Designee Scholarship — One (1) scholarship is offered to an individual wishing to attend the Social Service Designee Training offered by the Nebraska Health Care Learning Center.
Assisted Living Administrator Scholarship — One (1) scholarship is offered to an individual wishing to attend the Assisted Living Administrator Training offered by the Nebraska Health Care Learning Center and become an administrator or manager in assisted living. RN Scholarships — Seven (7) $1,000 scholarships are offered to individuals who would like to become registered nurses and practice in the long-term care profession.
LPN Scholarships — Six (6) $1,000 scholarships are offered to individuals who would like to become licensed practical nurses and practice in the long-term care profession. Dietary Scholarships — Six (6) $750 scholarships are offered to individuals who would like to become involved in food service or dietary practice in the long-term care profession.
Nurse Advancement Scholarships — Three (3) $500 scholarships are offered to licensed RNs and/or LPNs who would like to complete training/certification testing to enhance their capabilities and practice their skills in the long-term care profession. Nursing Home Administrator Scholarship — One (1) $500 scholarships is offered to an individual who would like to become a Nursing Home Administrator.
Maxine Guy LPN Scholarships — Four (4) $250 scholarships are offered to current Nebraska LPNs wishing to further their education through an accredited organization. General Scholarships — Four (4) $250 scholarships are offered to individuals who would like to complete training to enhance their capabilities and practice their skills in a nursing facility or assisted living facility.
Quality Summit Scholarships — Two (2) scholarships are offered to individuals wishing to attend the AHCA/NCAL Quality Summit, May 22-24, 2023, in Grapevine, Texas. Congressional Briefing Scholarships – Direct Care Staff — Three (3) scholarships are offered to direct care staff individuals wishing to attend the AHCA/NCAL Congressional Briefing, June 5-6, 2023, in Washington, D. C.
Congressional Briefing Scholarship – Board Member — One (1) scholarship is offered to a board member wishing to attend the AHCA/NCAL Congressional Briefing, June 5-6, 2023, in Washington, D. C. AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention Scholarship — One (1) scholarship is offered to a long-term care professional interested in attending the AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention, Oct.
1-4, 2023, in Denver, Colorado. AHCA/NCAL Population Health Management Summit Scholarship — One (1) scholarship is offered to a long-term care professional interested in attending the AHCA/NCAL Annual Population Health Summit in December 2023. Safe Resident Assistance Grant Thanks to the support of West Bend Mutual Insurance, NHCF is offering a Safe Resident Assistance Grant to eligible NNFA and NALA Facility Members.
In 2023, the West Bend Charitable Grant Foundation is making it possible for NHCF to subsidize the cost of safe resident assistance equipment, such as lifts, purchased by awarded facilities. Thanks to West Bend, NHCF will award a total of four (4) grants at no more than $2,500 each. Applicants are not required to be West Bend Mutual Insurance customers.
