The NWO High Performance Materials for Defence and Safety program is a grant from the Dutch Research Council that funds development of new advanced materials for the Netherlands Ministry of Defence and security services. High performance materials for Defence and safety | NWO The aim of the programme is to develop knowledge about new high-performance materials for the Ministry of Defence and security services. This new equipment should use less energy than current equipment and be easier to reuse as well as quicker to repair. Attention should be paid to the ecological footprint of these new materials and production techniques.
At the same time, the equipment must still be able to withstand the harsh conditions under which it is used, such as high mechanical loads, extreme weather conditions and other challenges. By stimulating the development of these new materials and/or techniques, the programme contributes to increased deployability and effectiveness of the ministry of Defence and security services.
This goes hand in hand with increased safety for personnel and reduced environmental impact and dependence on fossil fuels. The grant ceiling for this Call for proposals is a total of €7,000,000. A minimum of €700,000 and a maximum of €2,000,000 can be requested in NWO funding per proposal.
