However, far too many people are under constant pressure of losing their home. Given that the gap between income and homes that are affordable is growing, our focus is primarily on people who are most excluded from housing opportunity. Homelessness is preventable.

This is why we support not-for-profit organisations that are ambitious in their strategies to end homelessness and create housing opportunity – from testing new approaches to scaling up what works. Our programme has a deep commitment to strengthening the voices of people with lived experience and a focus on efforts that contribute towards change at a systemic level.

The Housing and Homelessness programme update Our Housing and Homelessness is no longer accepting letters of enquiry. After three decades of grant-making, we are now in the process of winding down our grant-making. We are deeply proud of what our Housing and Homelessness grantees have achieved, and it has been a privilege to support their work to end homelessness and expand housing opportunity.

If you have questions and are an Oak grantee, please reach out to your programme officer. Supply and access to genuinely affordable and decent homes Reduction and prevention of homelessness We support efforts that help renters on low incomes access decent homes at genuinely affordable rent levels.

This includes promoting fairer tenancy agreements, ending unfair evictions, and challenging discrimination that excludes people from accessing affordable and safe homes. We support efforts that seek to improve the supply of homes that are affordable for people with the lowest income and/or facing the most discrimination.

This includes supporting different models of community ownership that benefit those with the greatest housing need and empowering communities to build the case for more homes that meet housing needs. We support efforts that empower and support people with complex needs through services that break the cycle of homelessness.

This includes developing research and engagement strategies to prevent all forms of homelessness and improving equitable access to supported housing and suitable accommodations.
