Naija Girls in Tech (NGiT) is proud to announce the launch of the Olufunmilayo Ogunwo-Adesanya Scholarship, a landmark initiative designed to empower girls and young women across Nigeria with the digital skills, mentorship, and opportunities needed to thrive in the global technology ecosystem.
The scholarship, officially launched on October 30, 2025, honours the visionary leadership and commitment of Olufunmilayo Ogunwo-Adesanya, the Founder and CEO of Naija Girls in Tech. The initiative reflects her lifelong dedication to advancing digital inclusion, promoting gender equity in technology, and creating pathways for young women to succeed in innovation-driven careers.
Empowering the Next Generation of Female Tech Leaders The Olufunmilayo Ogunwo-Adesanya Scholarship was established to support girls and young women who demonstrate passion, potential, and purpose in pursuing technology-related careers, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
Through this initiative, Naija Girls in Tech aims to expand access to high-quality technology education while nurturing a new generation of female innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders.
The scholarship aligns with NGiT’s broader mission to: Equip girls and young women with in-demand digital and technology skills Promote economic empowerment and gender equity Create structured pathways into employment, internships, and entrepreneurship Build a generation of globally competitive female technology leaders.
Addressing the Gender Gap in Technology Despite the rapid growth of Nigeria’s technology sector, women remain significantly underrepresented in many technical fields. The Olufunmilayo Ogunwo-Adesanya Scholarship seeks to address this gap by providing access to training, mentorship, and career opportunities that many young women might otherwise find difficult to access.
By removing financial and structural barriers to tech education, the program aims to help talented girls build sustainable careers in the digital economy while contributing to Nigeria’s broader innovation ecosystem. Recipients of the scholarship will gain access to a comprehensive learning and development pathway designed to prepare them for real-world opportunities in technology.
Full or partial sponsorship for NGiT technology training programs Mentorship from experienced technology professionals Access to the NGiT Employment and Placement Support System Digital learning tools and resources Opportunities for internships and apprenticeship placements with partner organisations.
Structured Learning and Career Development Scholars will progress through NGiT’s structured training pathway, which includes: Introductory digital skills training Soft-skills and leadership development modules Career preparation and job-readiness workshops.
To ensure long-term impact, Naija Girls in Tech will also track scholars’ progress throughout their training journey, provide continued mentorship, and measure career outcomes through monitoring and evaluation systems.
