Since its beginning, this incredible initiative has donated over $5. 6 million in the towns we live and work in.

By rounding up your electric bill to the next dollar, you're helping fund vital services, programs, and projects that strengthen our communities. Participating in Operation Round Up is easy. As a Wright-Hennepin member, your electric bill is automatically rounded up to the next whole dollar each month.

For example, if your bill is $74. 75, it will be rounded up to $75. 00, with the additional 25 cents going directly into the Operation Round Up trust fund.

The average monthly contribution is typically just 50 cents, adding up to around $6. 00 per year – a small amount for each individual, but a significant collective contribution. These rounded-up amounts are tax-deductible, and the total contributed is clearly displayed on your monthly electric statement.

The funds collected through Operation Round Up are placed into a trust, which is overseen by a dedicated, independent board appointed by Wright-Hennepin's Board of Directors. This board carefully evaluates funding requests on a quarterly basis, ensuring donations support eligible programs that demonstrate a clear need and provide direct benefit to the overall community.

Operation Round Up proudly supports a wide range of organizations and projects, including: Local non-profit organizations Emergency services (fire departments, ambulance services) Schools and educational programs Food shelves and community assistance programs Youth development initiatives Community-focused charitable endeavors Our commitment is to charitable giving that strengthens the fabric of our communities and addresses pressing local needs.

Application Guidelines and Deadlines The Wright-Hennepin Electric Trust funds Operation Round Up with voluntary contributions from WH members and other sources. These funds support a wide range of charitable, educational, and emergency needs within our local communities.

Funding is prioritized across several categories: Community service programs that improve health, safety, and quality of life Education and youth development efforts, especially for children and teens at risk Emergency energy assistance programs for low-income households Disaster relief for individuals and families in crisis The Trust typically grants funds to nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status that serve the WH service territory.

Individual applications may be considered in special circumstances, particularly in cases of personal hardship, disaster, or medical emergencies. Be sure to submit by one of the following dates: February 1, April 1, June 1, August 1, October 1, or November 20.

Here’s how you’re contributing and how you can manage your involvement. How You're Already Helping As a Wright-Hennepin member, you are automatically enrolled in Operation Round Up.

This means your monthly electric bill is rounded up to the next dollar, with the small change going to the trust fund. These contributions are tax-deductible, and the total amount you’ve donated each year is clearly listed on your December electric statement. Thank you for being a part of this impactful program!
