” All projects must align with the requirements identified by national settlement agreements and state law, which both ensure that prescription opioid settlement funds are used to support overdose prevention and response initiatives. gov/Grants . Applications are due by September 15, 2026, at 5 pm. Non-profits are eligible to apply if they provide non-billable community-based services (or billable services to disproportionately impacted populations).

Local governments may apply if they do not receive their own opioid settlement funds. All grant proposals will be evaluated based on a uniform set of criteria, including how they address opioid remediation and gaps in their communities. Funding will be provided on a multi-year basis.

Interested organizations can attend a pre-application webinar hosted by Maryland’s Office of Overdose Response on July 24, 2026. About Prescription Opioid Settlements in Maryland Maryland expects to receive over $740 million over the next 15 years through finalized settlements.

Of this, 70% will be distributed directly to counties, cities, and towns that joined the state’s settlements with prescription opioid manufacturers and distributors and retail pharmacies. The state has discretion over the remaining 30% of funds, half of which must be distributed through competitive grants. As of the 2025 fiscal year, the state has received approximately $245.
