UHDS understands the significant impact that on-campus living can have on a student's academic and personal success. Recognizing that unforeseen financial hardship may arise, UHDS has established a grant program to assist students in completing their academic journey at Oregon State University. Students may apply for the grant between the fourth week of the fall term and the fifth week of the spring term.
While students may apply for the grant more than once during that time, the grant is a one-time award per academic year. UHDS will award grants of up to $1,500 per student per academic year, subject to availability, financial need, and successful completion of the application process. Grant awardees will have the specific amount applied to their OSU student account.
To be eligible for the UHDS Retention Grant, a student must: Be an enrolled Oregon State University student. Demonstrate financial need and have an outstanding OSU student account balance at the time of application. Please note that if there is not an outstanding OSU student account balance at the time an application is under review, the UHDS Retention Grant Committee will not award the grant and the applicant will need to reapply.
Reside in a UHDS residence hall or on-campus apartment, with priority given to residence hall students living in or seeking to live in the most affordable room types (triple, economy triple, quad). Have accepted reasonable forms of financial aid. Maintain a minimum 2.
0 GPA. Be in good conduct and academic standing with OSU and UHDS. *Note: Application is closed for the remainder of the 2025-26 academic year.
Other funding & support opportunities UHDS Co-Sponsorship or Funding Request UHDS offers co-sponsorship and funding support for student events that enhance campus life. A portion of housing and dining fees, along with other revenue, is set aside each year to help fund programs that benefit the OSU community. This support encourages events that foster connection, learning and engagement on campus.
