Key Information: At least 65% of the total award must support scholars; applicants may submit only one application per competition. This grant program funds interdisciplinary projects designed to prepare personnel at the master’s, educational specialist, or clinical doctoral degree levels (and, in certain cases, bachelor’s) in early intervention, special education, and related services.
The focus is on equipping professionals to serve children with disabilities who have high-intensity needs, using evidence-based practices and interdisciplinary approaches. Projects must involve shared coursework, group assignments, and coordinated field or clinical experiences across two or more graduate degree programs (except for educational interpreter preparation, which may be at the bachelor’s level).
The program aims to address state-identified needs for qualified personnel and ensure these professionals have skills and knowledge grounded in scientifically based research.
