Summer Scholars - Medical Student Internship Stipends Developing the next generation of physicians! The OSMA Foundation's Summer Scholars program provides stipends for medical students to pursue summer opportunities in research, community health, health advocacy and medical education programs. Medical students have the opportunity to pursue research internships between their first and second years of medical school.

However, many of these internships are unpaid, which can add to the financial burden of medical students. The OSMA Foundation is committed to educating and developing the next generation of physicians, as well as helping remove barriers for medical students from diverse backgrounds. Get the Details & Apply > Well-Being Support for Healthcare Workforce Supporting Ohio's healthcare workforce The Well-Being C heckup A nd R eferral E ngagement Service is a simple, free, and anonymous checkup of your mental and emotional health. In these trying times for healthcare professionals, programs that support your wellness and well-being are more important than ever.

Using the Well-Being CARE Service is quick and easy, and provides a questionnaire—which takes 10 minutes to complete. Users can choose whether they'd like to connect with the licensed mental health professional to establish a helpful relationship for further action. All participation is completely voluntary and anonymous.

Advancing Alzheimer’s Research: Aidan Butler’s Summer Scholar Story This summer, Aidan Butler, a medical student at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, spent his time investigating new ways to improve care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

Thanks to support from the OSMA Foundation’s Summer Scholars Program, Aidan joined Dr. Holly Hunsberger’s lab at Rosalind Franklin University to explore how anxiety, benzodiazepines, and psilocybin affect memory and brain function.

Advancing Hope Through Research: Sarah's Summer Scholar Journey This summer, OSMA Foundation Summer Scholar Sarah Dickman joined the orthopedics research team at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, investigating therapeutic strategies to improve outcomes for children with neonatal brachial plexus injury, the most common cause of pediatric upper limb paralysis.

The Physicians Foundation Releases 2025 Wellbeing Survey Results Stress and anxiety are surging during a tumultuous year in medicine. This 2025 Wellbeing Survey of America’s Physicians reveals a troubling paradox: while reported burnout has declined from last year, physicians’ stress and anxiety have risen to levels not seen since the height of the pandemic.
