Otto Mühlschlegel Prize | Robert Bosch Stiftung The prize commemorates the lifetime achievements of philanthropist Otto Mühlschlegel and, until 2020, honored individuals who have shown outstanding commitment to the cause of old age and aging. Since 2024, the Otto Mühlschlegel Award has been awarded as "Ideas for Impact" by the Bosch Health Campus on behalf of the Robert Bosch Stiftung for sustainable healthcare models in Germany.
In Brief About the Project The Otto Mühlschlegel Award commemorates the successful and exemplary work of its founder, Otto Mühlschlegel. The prize, which was awarded as a non-endowed prize until 2020, was presented every two years to individuals who have shown outstanding commitment to the cause of old age and aging.
Instead of prize money, a donation in the amount of 30,000 euros is made to an elderly charity of the prizewinner’s choice. Since 2024, the Otto Mühlschlegel Award has been awarded by the Bosch Health Campus on behalf of the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
Under the new title "Ideas for Impact", this prize is intended to recognize pioneering care concepts and social innovations that promise better health and a better quality of life, especially for older people, while having an impact on the positive development of healthcare.
The vision of the founders Otto and Edith Mühlschlegel for a good and self-determined life in an ageing society is thus being continued in the face of new challenges and focused on the healthcare sector. The Ideas for Impact is endowed with 100,000 euros. The award winners are selected by a jury of experts who bring together a range of expertise from the fields of health research, geriatrics, ethics and futurology.
