Outdoor Recreation Mitigation Grant (ORMG)

Outdoor Recreation Mitigation Grant (ORMG) is sponsored by Utah State Legislature (administered by Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation). A new funding opportunity created by the Utah State Legislature to help eligible counties address visitor-related costs associated with outdoor recreation and tourism.

Outdoor Recreation Mitigation Grant - Utah Outdoor Recreation Outdoor Recreation Mitigation Grant The Outdoor Recreation Mitigation Grant Program helps eligible Utah counties manage visitor-related impacts from outdoor recreation, tourism and visitation. ORMG funds may support documented needs such as search and rescue, emergency medical response, law enforcement, waste management, road repair and safety improvements.

Submit your application through the grant portal. Applications must be submitted through the Division of Outdoor Recreation’s online grant portal. Incomplete applications or applications missing attachments will not be reviewed.

Select the ORMG application Choose “Outdoor Recreation Mitigation Grant” and start a new application. Provide the required application information, including visitor impacts, eligible mitigation or reimbursement costs, timelines, requested funding uses, and any other required details.

Attach the required reimbursement ledger, cost estimate and any additional documentation, records, or letters of acknowledgement needed for your application. Double-check your application before submitting it for review. Application & Award Details What applicants should know before applying.

Applicants must complete all required fields in the online application and upload the required cost ledger and supporting documentation. Costs will be reviewed in two categories: Vendor names or service providers Quantities, hours or units Grant and county cost breakdowns After the cycle closes, Division staff will review applications for completeness.

Eligible applications will then be reviewed and scored by the Outdoor Recreation Mitigation Board. Priority will be given to actual emergency costs, followed by visitor-related safety and mitigation needs. Awardees must keep detailed records of expenditures, timesheets and logs.

No work may begin before a signed contract Funds must be spent within 18 months Progress reports are due every six months Expenditures must be reported by Dec. 31 each year until funds are spent Modification requests must be submitted at least 60 days before the grant expires Applications missing required cost information or supporting documentation will not be reviewed.
