Specific research areas encompass congenital and hereditary disorders in children (anomalies of kidney and urinary tract development, renal dysplasia, cystic kidney diseases, congenital nephrotic syndrome, hereditary glomerulopathy, and Alport syndrome), metabolic disorders (e.g., cystinosis, cystinuria, hyperoxaluria, and Fanconi syndrome), and glomerulonephritides (e.g., minimal change nephrotic syndrome, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, IgA nephropathy, complement 3 glomerulopathies, and hemolytic uremic syndrome).
