The Peninsula Home Fund, established in 1989 by the Peninsula Daily News, serves as a “hand up, not a handout” for residents of Clallam and Jefferson counties in Washington.

Its primary purpose is to provide emergency assistance to individuals and families facing unexpected hardships, helping them regain self-sufficiency. Through the generosity of local residents, the Peninsula Home Fund continues to be a vital resource, offering timely assistance to community members during their most challenging times. Over the years, the fund has raised more than $4.

93 million to support those in need. Olympic View Community Foundation (OVCF) has administered the Home Fund since 2024, awarding grant money to local nonprofits who already have programs in place to help individuals and families address a wide range of needs, such as: Transportation Costs : Covering travel expenses for medical appointments or job interviews.

Work-Related Expenses : Providing necessary work clothing or tools to secure employment. Housing Assistance : Offering rental assistance or temporary housing solutions to prevent homelessness. Basic Necessities : Supplying additional help with food, utilities, and other essential needs during crises.

Healthcare : Providing assistance with urgent medical, dental, or eye care needs. The fund operates year-round, with an annual fundraising campaign during the holiday season. All contributions are tax-deductible, and donations go directly to assisting those in need, with a minimal portion allocated to administrative costs.

First Step Family Support Center Providing diapers, wipes, infant formula, and other essential supplies for families on the North Olympic Peninsula. Forks Community Food Bank Providing nutritious groceries as well as non-food essentials such as diapers, baby formula, and hygiene products to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in the rural West End of Clallam County.

Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County Serving low-income individuals and families, seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities throughout Clallam County who need support to remain safely in their homes.

Our Repair Program addresses critical health and safety needs, accessibility modifications, and aging-in-place improvements, helping low-income homeowners—especially seniors and veterans—remain safely and comfortably in their homes. Jefferson Healthcare Foundation Mobile dental clinic, assisting individuals in Jefferson County who face transportation and financial barriers to receiving needed dental care.

Joyce Community Education Foundation Providing nutritious snacks to students at Crescent School, playing a vital role in their ability to focus, learn, and participate fully in school activities. Reimbursing women in Clallam and Jefferson Counties for transportation costs to reach their cancer treatments.

Lutheran Community Services Northwest Providing low-income, under-resourced communities access to food through our Food Pantry, including mobile outreach for remote tribal and rural communities who lack transportation or service infrastructure.

In addition to food distribution, wraparound services addressing underlying issues and barriers to self-sufficiency are offered, including direct funds, basic needs, systems navigation, and life skills & employment training. Olympic Medical Center Foundation Providing holistic assistance to low-income cancer patients.

Funds will be used to cover both health-related and basic living expenses that become barriers to treatment and recovery. Providing individuals and families with access to concrete support (food, housing payment assistance, transportation assistance/gas cards, utilities, childcare, clothing, supplies needed for employment, etc.) in times of need, to minimize household stress.

Olympic Unitarian Universalist Volunteer-run Little Free Pantry provides 24/7 access to food for those in need, including baby food, canned and packaged/shelf stable items, as well as abundant, year-round fresh fruits and vegetables. LFP also provides male and female hygiene kits, adult and children’s dental kits, as well as feminine hygiene kits.

Peninsula Behavioral Health Providing healthcare services to low-income individuals in Clallam County who are uninsured, underinsured, or unable to afford required deductibles or copays associated with essential medical and behavioral healthcare.

Providing groceries, including fresh produce, dairy, protein, and shelf-stable staples to low-income families, seniors on fixed incomes, individuals with disabilities, underemployed workers, and households impacted by instability or unexpected financial hardship.

Supporting low-income families and individuals within the Sequim School District boundaries with emergency financial assistance during times of crisis, covering utilities, rent, and deposits. Serving families in need by increasing access to fresh, nutrient-rich produce.

We partner with 6 small farms in Clallam County to purchase seasonal produce, to support the health and well-being of families facing financial challenges while providing reliable income to local farmers. Serenity House of Clallam County Providing meals and lodging to low-income and homeless households. St.

Vincent de Paul (E. Jefferson) Providing our low-income neighbors in Jefferson County with help meeting their basic needs, including groceries & fuel, utilities, vehicle fees & repairs, housing, firewood, laundry, work clothes, etc. St. Vincent de Paul – St.

Joseph Conference (Sequim) Providing assistance mainly in 3 critical areas: Rent/rent deposits, utilities, and transportation needs, including gas, car repairs, renewing car tags, and ferry tickets to medical appointments in Seattle. We also provide assistance with food, clothing, prescriptions, and communication needs to those who are struggling financially, and can provide a list of other available community resources if needed.

The Answer for Youth (TAFY) Providing shelf-stable food items, as well as hot, nutritious meals, help with vehicle maintenance needed for living in/getting to work, shelter & cooking items, basic clothing/hygiene needs, rent & utility assistance.

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County Supporting older adults on fixed incomes, individuals facing serious or terminal illness, caregivers experiencing financial and emotional strain, and families navigating the challenges of medical crises. Assistance addresses a range of urgent needs including medication and medical supply access, rent support, food access, funeral expenses, specialty care, and home maintenance.
