47 million in new grants to fund innovative AI solutions for older adults and their caregivers. Now in its fifth year, this significant investment supports a new group of researchers dedicated to improving care for seniors, especially those with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. This year’s grants are part of a diverse portfolio of projects aimed at tackling the challenges of aging.
George Demiris, PhD , a Penn Integrates Knowledge Professor with joint appointments in Penn Nursing and Penn Medicine, and co-principal investigator of PennAITech, notes that these AI-powered tools are the key to unlocking new possibilities. “Artificial intelligence tools and other technologies are the common thread that helps us harness the potential of innovation to improve the quality of life for older adults,” he said.
“By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, PennAITech supports the development of groundbreaking technologies designed to meet the real-world needs of older adults and their families. We are looking forward to working with our new cohort of awardees,” added co-principal investigator Jason Karlawish, MD .
