Perinatal Hepatitis Prevention Program | Department of Health Perinatal Hepatitis Prevention Program To prevent perinatal hepatitis infection in infants. Offer screening, referral, and case management services for pregnant women and new mothers infected with chronic hepatitis B or hepatitis C virus. Partner with Women and Infant's Hospital, Hasbro Children's Hospital, and the VNA of Care New England.
Provide free at-home nurse visits to pregnant women and new mothers to educate them about hepatitis, breastfeeding , nutrition, and community resources such as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) . Coordinate care for women with hepatitis B virus and their infants to ensure they complete the hepatitis B vaccination series and undergo recommended immunity testing.
Follow the infants born to women with hepatitis C virus to ensure they get the recommended testing for hepatitis C virus. HsiuChin. Shen@health.
