Project Safe Neighborhoods Program is a grant from the Texas Office of the Governor that funds projects designed to create safer neighborhoods through sustained reduction of violent crime, including efforts targeting criminal gangs and illegal firearm possession and use. Federal funding is authorized under the PSN Block Grant Program (34 U.S.C. §60702) through the U.S. Department of Justice. Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, independent school districts, nonprofits including hospitals and faith-based organizations, and units of local government in Texas. Law enforcement agencies must apply through an affiliated unit of government. The FY2026 program was administered through the Texas Governor's Public Safety Office.
