Personalized Literacy Microgrant 2026

The Personalized Literacy Microgrant 2026 from Learney names five U.S. middle schools as Learney Literacy Champions for the 2026-27 school year. Each Champion school receives a fully funded Learney pilot valued at up to $5,000: a school-wide license for up to 1,000 students covering daily, curriculum-aligned reading, writing, and speaking practice personalized to each student; a 90-minute onboarding and professional development session for the teaching team, including roster sync with Clever, ClassLink, and Google Classroom; and monthly cohort meetups with other grantee schools. Twenty-five additional schools receive Honorable Mention matching grants (a custom match based on school size) toward bringing Learney to their school, plus complimentary PD and self-paced teacher training.

Learney is a structured-literacy ELA intervention grounded in the Science of Reading that combines close-reading practice, draft-revise-resubmit writing feedback, and structured academic speaking practice in one daily routine, with teacher-facing data. The program targets students working a year or more below grade level, including English Learners (ELs/ELLs) bridging conversational fluency to academic language. Learney states that it is COPPA and FERPA compliant and that student work is never used to train AI models.

Eligible applicants are U.S. middle schools (grades 6-8) in any state, whether city, town, or rural district; a teacher or coach can start the application, but an authorized school administrator must be named. The online application takes under 10 minutes. Applications close October 5, 2026, and winners are announced October 15, 2026, with onboarding in fall 2026 and a spring 2027 efficacy review. Grantees agree to use the daily practice, join monthly cohort meetings, and share their implementation experience for case studies.
