Pets in the Classroom Grant

Pets in the Classroom Grant is sponsored by Pets in the Classroom. The Pets in the Classroom program provides a stipend for teachers to purchase fish, rabbits, and other small animals for their classrooms, allowing students to share in the care of a pet.

If you have already applied, please do not apply again. Check out these helpful resources before applying! New Teacher Application Process (Initial Grants) New applicants will need to create an account with us to apply for a grant.

Click Login to create your account. You will need to verify your email, set a password, and upload proof of employment (such as a school badge or paystub). Be sure to use your home/personal email address — not your school or work email.

Once your account is set up, click the Start New Application button inside the portal to apply. Read all instructions on the application form carefully. Most applications are approved instantly, but it can take up to 2 weeks after submission for approval.

New Applicant Instructions Returning Teachers: Important Login Update (Sustaining Grants) We’ve switched to a new grant system for the 2026-27 school year , so the old login link is no longer in use.

Delete any saved login links from previous years so you don’t accidentally use an old page. Your existing login has already been transferred to the new system . Reset your password to access the new system with your existing login.

You will then be able to apply for the sustaining grant within the account portal by pressing the Start New Application button. Detailed instructions for returning applicants are linked below.

Returning Applicant Instructions After accessing your account and reviewing the information about our grants , eligibility , and pet choices , you can start your Pets in the Classroom grant application by clicking the Start New Application button within the account portal. If you are picking a store coupon grant, remember to double check that there is a store located in your area.

This grant can be used at online pet specialty stores or independent pet specialty retailers. Teacher will purchase pet and supplies, then submit receipts to The Pet Care Trust for reimbursement up to $125. 00.

Fish/Aquariums/Reptile/Amphibian Rebate Grant ($125) Pet Options The $125. 00 Fish/Aquarium/Amphibian/Reptile is for tank-dwelling animals such as: Lizards/Geckos/Dragons/Anoles Note: this grant does NOT cover expenses related to hermit crabs or betta fish.

To receive reimbursement for expenses related to hermit crabs, apply for the $75. 00 Small Animal/Bird/Hermit Crab Rebate Grant. To receive reimbursement for expenses related to betta fish, apply for the $75.

00 Betta Fish Rebate Grant. Betta Fish Rebate Grant ($75) If you are seeking a betta fish classroom pet not offered by one of our store partners, or if you prefer to shop at your neighborhood pet store, you can apply for a Pets in the Classroom $75 Betta Fish Rebate Grant. This grant can be used at online pet specialty stores or independent pet specialty retailers.

Teacher will purchase pet and supplies, then submit receipts to The Pet Care Trust for reimbursement up to $75. 00. Pets in the Classroom rebate grants are initial grants that are only awarded once per lifetime.

You may not apply for a rebate grant more than once. After your initial grant, you are only eligible to receive the $50. 00 Sustaining Grant in subsequent school years.

The $75. 00 Betta Fish Rebate Grant is for betta fish only. Sustaining Grant – Not eligible if you have already received an Initial Store or Rebate Grant in the current school year (August to June).

To help teachers continue caring for their classroom pet (or to get a new classroom pet) after receiving their initial grant, the $50. 00 Sustaining Grant is available each school year to returning teachers. If any other type of grant has already been received in the current school year, you are not eligible for this grant until NEXT school year.

In addition, if you have redeemed an initial grant while at previous school , you are still ONLY eligible for the $50. 00 Sustaining Grant in subsequent school years. Grant money is used to maintain existing classroom pets.

If you no longer have the pet that you originally received from Pets in the Classroom, you may use the Sustaining Grant towards another pet or pet supplies for your classroom. Submit receipts to The Pet Care Trust for reimbursement up to $50. 00.
