September 22-November 15, 2026 See the Application Procedure The objective of the PhD Student Research Grant program is to assist PhD students registered in a recognized program at a PhD-degree granting institution in any country who is undertaking research in an area of geochemistry to acquire geochemical analyses in support of the student’s research.
Our Student Research Grant program is generously supported by Elsevier , the publisher of our Society Journal, Applied Geochemistry . A PhD Student Research Grant consists of a grant of up to $2300 (US) to support the analytical needs of geochemistry PhD students. The award also includes an article profiling the recipient in Elements magazine and the IAGC Newsletter .
Each recipient of a PhD Student Research Grant also receives a complementary 1-year membership to IAGC for the year following receipt of the award. Proposals will be evaluated and winners will be determined by a committee of IAGC Officers and Council.
In 2026, we plan to fully support five proposals, plus an additional sixth proposal from a low and middle income country supported by IAGC donations Authorized uses of Research Student Grant funds include: the cost of preparing PhD dissertation research samples for geochemical analysis travel to an analytical facility to undertake geochemical the cost of geochemical analyses of PhD dissertation research samples The IAGC PhD Student Research Grant application period for 2026 is closed.
The application period for 2027 grants is now open and will remain open until November 15, 2026. To apply for a PhD Student Research Grant please download the application at the following link ( IAGC_Student_Research_Grant_Application_2027. doc ) and follow the instructions.
Award decisions will be announced Important Note: The IAGC is based in the United States and we are unable to transfer funds to banks based in certain countries (e.g. Russia, Iran, Iraq, Cuba). Unfortunately, students working in these countries are ineligible for the grant. If you have any questions about your eligibility, email the Business Office at businessoffice@iagc-society.

Economics of AI Fellowship is sponsored by Stripe. The fellowship supports foundational academic research in the economics of AI, an area currently understudied despite rapid technical progress in artificial intelligence. Fellows receive a baseline grant, opportunities to attend conferences with leading economists and technologists, and potential access to unique data via Stripe and its customers.
The UKRI Policy Fellowships 2025, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, offer 18-month placements for academics to co-design research with UK government and What Works Network host organizations. Awards range from £180,000 to £280,000 and support three fellowship tracks: core policy fellows, Natural Hazards and Resilience policy fellows, and What Works Innovation fellows. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent research experience, be based at a UKRI-eligible UK organization, and possess relevant subject matter or methodological expertise. Government-hosted positions target early to mid-career academics, while What Works fellowships welcome all career stages. Fellows work directly with policymakers to bridge academic research and policy development on pressing national and global challenges. The application deadline is July 15, 2025.
