Physics Outreach Grant Proposal Guidelines The program is funded by the APS Four Corners section to support projects intended to bring physics-related learning experiences to K through 12 students. Priority will be given to proposals that increase the participation and achievement of underrepresented groups in physics and related fields within the region served by the unit.
We will consider proposals from programs looking to initiate physics activities. Proposals will be accepted from individuals associated with non-profit institutions (including universities, colleges, community colleges, secondary schools, museums, and other non-profits with educational missions) who intend to carry out educational activities within the area served by the APS-4 Corners: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah.
Proposers may request up to $2,000. The number of grants will be limited to four per fiscal year, contingent with APS-4 corners funds availability.
A completed grant application form with all signatures A one-page description that includes: Targeted audience/grade level(s); A statement of how the planned activities will increase the awareness of physics topics among the general population or facilitate/encourage the study of physics among K-12 students; The names of those who will plan and carry out the activities; An itemized budget detailing the use of requested funds and any "matching" funds.
Include the source of the matching funds as well as the amount and purpose. See the suggested format in the application form: Application Form PDF Application Form Doc Proposals may be submitted each funding cycle to the chair of the outreach committee of the APS- 4Corners (see contact information below) no later than March 31.
The primary criterion used by the committee is the potential positive impact on educating K-12 students and underrepresented groups in STEM in particular about physics-related topics. We are interested in plans for the long-term sustainability of the project. A final report should be submitted within 90 days of the end of the project, providing a summary of the impacts from the funding provided.
The program is administered by the Executive Committee of the APS-4Corners. Awards from each state will be reviewed by the Executive Committee from that state (including the member-at-large from that state). These reviewers will present their recommendations to the whole Executive Committee for ratification.
