** The **Promoting Local Agriculture and Neighborhood Transformation (PLANT)** Grant helps increase access to fresh, affordable produce by investing directly in the people and projects that support Kansas City’s local food system. **To be considered for funding, project proposals must support at least one of the following program goals:** 1.

Increase food crop production, processing, and/or distribution for public sales or distribution 2. Improve distribution and access to fresh foods 3.

Advance regenerative agricultural efforts to produce food in KCMO for social and environmental benefits * Up to $5,000 MAX for new farms or garden projects (production site **less than two years old**) * Up to $5,000 MAX for previously awarded PLANT Grant projects * Up to $10,000 MAX for existing farms (production site **three years or older**) Awarded projects receive**50% of their grant funding upfront**, with the remaining awarded funds distributed according to the grant agreement.

All grant funds must be spent within **nine months** of the award date.

* Be located within Kansas City, Missouri city limits Community garden and orchard sites who plan to work with Kansas City Community Gardens (KCCG) must also: * Complete a site assessment with KCCG before applying * Include the assessment with their application * Meet at least one of the three project goals Awardees will be required to: * Attend one PLANT Grant training to review grant requirements, reporting expectations, and invoice procedures * Attend one required training workshop during the grant period offered by a local grower support organization, such as Cultivate KC, Kansas City Community Gardens (KCCG), KCBUGS, MU Extension, or Lincoln University Extension * Participate in grant monitoring by food systems coordinator and urban agriculture concierge (three progress check-ins and an in-person site visit halfway through the project How Applications are Evaluated Applications are reviewed and scored by three food system professionals, including two City staff from the Office of Environmental Quality and Planning Concierge and the Lincoln University Extension Horticulture Educator.
