Pre-Disaster Flood Resilience Grant is sponsored by Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA). Offers grants to local governments and tribes for projects that reduce flood hazards by restoring wetlands, streams, and floodplains.

Identify flood vulnerabilities Identify options to improve flood resiliency Restore hydrology in order to reduce flood risk and damages in flood-prone communities Municipalities (cities, villages, towns) Regional planning commissions Federally recognized American Indian tribes or bands in Wisconsin Nonprofit organizations and private consulting organizations on behalf of one or more of the eligible applicants above * To be eligible, an application must meet one of the following: include in the project area an area that has been the site of a presidentially declared disaster or governor-issued state of emergency for flooding in the 10 years preceding the application cycle; or be for a local unit of government that has a hazard mitigation plan that identifies localized exposure to flood risk and has been approved by Wisconsin Emergency Management.

25% non-state funds; may be federal, local, private, or nonprofit; may include in-kind Eligible projects will be for generation and gathering of information on vulnerabilities and identification of flood resilience priorities on a watershed, catchment, or stream reach scale through one or more of the following activities: understanding flood flows and erosion hazards and vulnerabilities identifying opportunities to increase flood resilience, including opportunities to restore wetland, stream, and floodplain hydrology Development of culvert inventories using the Great Lakes Stream Crossing Inventory (GLSCI) or another road-stream crossing inventory method that is at least as effective as the GLSCI and considers upstream hydrologic conditions H&H studies that help develop hydrologic models Assessment grant maximum award amount: $300,000.

Eligible projects will be for implementation of hydrologic restoration projects that have been identified or designed through an assessment grant or comparable assessment process.

Shall support the following activities: post-construction monitoring for a hydrologic restoration project that does the following: reconnects streams and floodplains; reestablishes healthy channel form and condition; mitigates erosion hazards; removes or reduces wetland drainage; restores or improves natural flow and movement of water or sediment; or reestablishes vegetation to support site stability and help manage flow and infiltration.
