NRCS Missouri Announces Funding Opportunity Under Regional Partner Project NRCS Missouri Announces Funding Opportunity Under Regional Partner Project **COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, JUNE 15,2022–**USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Missouri invites qualifying farmers and landowners in Chariton, Lafayette, Linn, Macon, Pettis, Randolph, and Saline counties to apply to receive assistance through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) by July 15, 2022.

The**Precision Farm Data and Strategic Buffer Placement Project**is a partner project led by the Missouri Department of Conservation. The primary goal of this project is to create and implement management strategies that provide for the adoption of scientifically proven and culturally acceptable cropland management practices that target unprofitable cropland acres.

Specifically, the project will utilize farm data to enhance water and soil quality, target at-risk grassland-associated species habitat on agricultural land, and assist producers in avoiding the need for natural resource regulatory requirements. * Utilizing on-farm yield data to identify non-profitable cropland acres and convert these areas to high-diversity herbaceous buffers.

* Decrease water and soil quality degradation by adopting alternative management regimes designed to mitigate nutrient runoff and soil erosion from cropland. * Encourage producers to make informed decisions by targeting conservation practices that maximize environmental benefits.

RCPP promotes the coordination of NRCS conservation activities with partners that offer value-added contributions to expand our collective ability to address on-farm, watershed, and regional natural resource concerns.

Through RCPP, NRCS seeks to co-invest with partners to implement projects that demonstrate innovative solutions to conservation challenges and provide measurable improvements and outcomes tied to the resource concerns they seek to address.

“RCPP is a unique program that leverages non-federal investments brought by conservation partners to accelerate conservation in selected project areas,” said Missouri NRCS State Conservationist Scott Edwards. “This approach helps us maximize the use of our collective resources to address locally identified resource concerns. ” Individuals and other entities actively engaged in agricultural production are eligible to participate in RCPP.

RCPP offers a continuous application sign-up. However, to be considered for this round of funding, applications must be received by**July 15, 2022**. Applicants can sign-up for the 2022 program year by contacting their local USDA-NRCS Field Service Center.
