Prince George's County Community Gardens Mini Grant is a program from the Chesapeake Bay Trust, in partnership with Prince George's County Department of the Environment, that funds the creation and support of community gardens serving Prince George's County, Maryland. The program provides resources to communities while supporting local environmental and food access goals. This grant was reinstated for FY2026 as of July 2025.
Awards of up to $5,000 are available per project. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, schools, and community groups located in Prince George's County. Projects should demonstrate community benefit and address local needs for green space, food production, or environmental education.

Prince George's County Community Gardens Mini Grant - Chesapeake Bay Trust Prince George’s County Community Gardens Mini Grant NOTICE (7/8/2025): Prince George’s County, Department of the Environment is pleased to announce this Community Gardens Mini Grant Program has been reinstated for FY2026. The Chesapeake Bay Trust is proud to partner with Prince George’s County on the Prince George’s Community Gardens Mini Grant Program.
This mini grant supports the creation and need for community gardens that provide resources to the Prince George’s County community while supporting the Prince George’s County Climate Action Plan. What this funds: The development of new community gardens as well as the growth of existing community gardens that plan to expand regenerative practices. Please see the RFP for types of community gardens that can be supported.
Who can apply: Nonprofit organizations, Prince George’s County municipalities, watershed organizations, community associations including Homeowner Associations, faith-based organizations, schools and institutions, and Green Teams. Up to $5,000: if garden is less than or equal to 400 square feet. Up to $9,500: if garden is over 400 square feet.
Is match required? Match is encouraged, but not required. Grant Application Process: The Chesapeake Bay Trust’s grant applications are all submitted through an online system, using the “Start a New Application” button below.
