Pro Bono Innovation Fund (PBIF) Awards

Pro Bono Innovation Fund is a grant from the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) that funds innovative pro bono partnerships to expand access to civil legal services for low-income populations. The program supports new collaboration models, technology-driven solutions, and replication of effective practices to engage more lawyers and non-legal professionals in pro bono delivery. Since 2014, PBIF has invested over $50 million in 180 grants across 38 states. Three grant categories are available: Project, Project Incubation, and Sustainability grants. Google.org Accelerator: Generative AI is an annual program supporting nonprofit organizations building generative AI-powered solutions for social impact at scale. Each cohort selects approximately 20 organizations to share $30 million in funding plus six months of dedicated pro bono assistance from Google employees technical training and Google Cloud credits. The program focuses on three areas: Knowledge Skills and Learning; Scientific Progress; and Stronger Communities. The 2024 cohort supported 21 organizations and the 2025 cohort selected 20 organizations tackling healthcare education environmental monitoring mental health and social services across multiple regions globally with an expected reach of over 30 million beneficiaries within three years. Open calls typically launch in January each year. This program is distinct from Google.org Impact Challenge AI for Government Innovation which targets AI for public service transformation and from Google.org Impact Challenge AI for Science which focuses on scientific research applications.

Build to Scale (B2S) Programs (EDA) is a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) that funds organizations supporting innovators, entrepreneurs, and startups to accelerate the growth of regional innovation economies across the United States. The program provides capital to organizations operating incubators, accelerators, or substantial pro-bono programs for startups, including digital agencies and entrepreneurship support organizations. B2S supports two tracks: the Venture Challenge, which funds equity and lending organizations helping startups access capital, and the Scale Challenge, which funds organizations helping startups grow and reach new markets. Eligible applicants include organizations directly supporting startup ecosystems. Award amounts are not specified; applicants should monitor EDA and Grants.gov for current solicitations.
