Product Demonstration Program - Alberta Innovates Product Demonstration Program Together with a strategic partner, the Product Demonstration Program provides up to $150,000 to Alberta tech companies who want to commercialize their products and achieve optimal market position. Program Status refers to the state of work going on within this particular program.
If the Program is 'Active', it is either accepting new applications or research is currently underway. If the Program is 'Inactive', the Program is neither accepting new applications nor is any research being conducted. Intake Status refers to the state of the Program's call for new applications.
If the Intake is displaying 'Open', the Program is accepting new applications. If the Intake is displaying 'Closed', the Program is not accepting new applications. Product Demonstration Program - Program Guide Small to Medium Enterprise The Product Demonstration Program (PDP) supports Alberta tech companies commercialize their products and achieve optimal market position to increase revenue and expand into global markets.
Alberta tech companies may be eligible for up to $150,000 to enter a partnership with a strategic partner to conduct a product pilot or demonstration that proves their product’s technical and business merits. The strategic partner is critical to commercialization and could be the first buyer, distributor, or influential client.
With the Product Demonstration Program you could: Build a relationship with a strategic partner to leverage their industry knowledge and distribution channels. Validate your product to a potential customer or market. Have your first sale or increase sales revenue within 18 months post project; Expand your supply or distribution channels.
Increase your global competitiveness. Provide your strategic partner with access to innovative products to solve operational challenges for itself or its customers. Help your strategic partner to de-risk exposure to new technology.
Expand products in strategic partners’ distribution channels. You have fewer than 500 full-time employees and less than $50,000,000 in annual gross revenue. You can match the total eligible project costs, to a maximum Investment of $150,000.
You have a product is ready to pilot in an operational setting. You are looking to expand sales or broaden market segments. You have identified a potential strategic partner.
You can complete the pilot or demonstration within one year. You can reasonably expect a first sale or distribution agreement within 18 months if the pilot is successful. You can reasonably expect expanded sales or distribution agreements if the demonstration is successful within 18 months.
Be a for-profit Corporation, General Partnership, Limited Partnership or Limited Liability Partnership and registered in Alberta. Companies must be Alberta-based with an Alberta footprint, which includes a significant physical and corporate operations in Alberta; appropriate Alberta ownership; and discernible intent that operational benefits will flow primarily within the Province of Alberta.
Full program and application details can be found in the Program Guide. Eligible Project Expenses Schedule C in the Investment Agreement Template outlines the eligible expenses for projects in the Product Demonstration Program. Please note: Alberta Innovates is a Provincial (eg.
‘Crown’) corporation funded by the Government of Alberta. Our mandate is to deliver economic, health and social benefits for Alberta and Albertans. We are also subject to Government of Alberta directives restricting purchases from US based vendors.
Such purchases are not generally allowed except in exceptional circumstances. Accordingly, if you are using our grant funds to pay for goods or services, we require you to work with domestic (Canadian) suppliers only, or suppliers from a jurisdiction Canada has a free trade agreement with that is being honoured. If no such vendor is available, please advise us immediately.
In any case, our grant funds must not be used to pay a US based vendor without our prior written consent, which consent can be withheld for any reason. All applications are reviewed and evaluated to determine fit with the Product Demonstration Program objectives and intended outcomes. Alberta Innovates’ staff and external expert reviewers are engaged to evaluate applications.
Alberta Innovates evaluates submitted applications to Product Demonstration Program based on technology, the business opportunity, applicant risks and the overall potential size of the return to Alberta against the performance outcomes.
A variety of common business and technical factors such as: the management team, market conditions, competitive advantage, and product/market fit, go to market plan, financials, technical feasibility and export potential are also considered. For more information, consult the Program Guide.
