MS Power Foundation provides relief to customers through United Way Add Us On Google Add as a preferred source on Google MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - With this summer being the hottest month, Mississippi Power wanted to gift a little something to help make their customers lives easier.

The Mississippi Power Foundation donated $350,000 to the United Way, which will be used to assist power customers in need with their electric bills during the hottest months of the year. Mississippi Power spokeswoman Kaila Moran Griffith said, “This is something that customers can take advantage of by working through the Multi-County Community Service Agency here in Meridian.

They can call that number and work through the application process. But what we’re doing is just making sure that the customers have the tools and resources they need if they have a demonstrated financial need. This is going to hopefully take some pressure off of their family households.

” This bill relief is a part of the Mississippi Power Foundation’s Project SHARE Program. “A program where employees from Mississippi Power, as well as customers, can actually opt-in to donate on their power bill to customers in need, year-round. And so really we see people that are in financial need, they can take advantage of those resources.

But again, this time of year, it is, you know, you do see a lot more people in need. When we see those really extreme temperatures for us, it is just looking out for the customers, making sure that they have those resources. Again, whether after a storm, we’re working for our customers, or when it’s days like today, we’re still working with our customers and ensuring they have everything they need.

They have that service and reliability that you know they know they expect from us,” Griffith adds. This is the second year that the Foundation has contributed to utility bill assistance. Mississippi Power customers from the company’s 23-county service area are eligible to apply.
