This grant-making opportunity aims to invest in the capacity of grassroots organizations geared towards impacting communities in need.

Grants worth up to $10,000 will support and enhance the efforts of these organizations while also advancing the work of the United Way in the areas of health , youth opportunity , and financial security . United Way of the Plains strives to build on the annual tradition of providing grants that improve our community conditions for all.

2026 PROMISE ON THE PLAINS RECIPIENTS United Way of the Plains announced an $85,000 investment in 11 charitable organizations serving underserved communities throughout the Wichita metropolitan region. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 were awarded to the following nonprofits.

Provides safe, structured transitional sober living for men rebuilding their lives after experiencing homelessness, incarceration, or recovering from substance use disorder. Bread of Life Food Distribution Center Provides food and clothing to low-income families in one of Wichita’s largest food deserts. Community Operations Recovery Empowerment (C.

O. R. E.)

Empowers youth and families with the skills, resources, and support needed to lead healthy, fulfilling, and successful lives. Kansas Birth Justice Society Advances reproductive justice through community care, policy advocacy, and workforce development by training doulas, providing aid to families, and promoting equitable access to reproductive and maternal health.

Empowers children from underserved communities to discover the fun, creativity, and possibility in math through hands-on experiences, storytelling, and mentorship. Provides a safe and structured classroom learning environment for kids who struggle with emotional and behavioral disorders and have been expelled, suspended long-term, or are in foster care but not attending school.

Provides HIV/STI prevention, education, and testing for priority populations within our community. Provides housing and holistic life-coaching for adults with intellectual disabilities. TBC Smart Learning Center Dedicated to inspiring the next generation of trailblazers in science, math, and reading through innovative and comprehensive educational and enrichment programs.

Assists the urban community in achieving economic self-reliance and an improved quality of life through access to education, resources, and opportunities. Empowers resettled refugees through friendship, language classes, and community programs that help families rebuild and thrive.
