ThePakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) chapters in Punjab are based out of Lahore, Bahawalpur, and Multan. In addition to our robust alumni network, U.S. Consulate Lahore also manages five Lincoln Cornerchapters in Vehari, Multan, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Lahore.
We also have a range of public diplomacy programs and grants in the following areas: **Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN)** The Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) is a dynamic community of alumni from U.S. government-funded exchange programs, committed to fostering positive change in Pakistan and beyond.
Members actively engage in community service, mentorship, and initiatives that inspire future exchange participants while strengthening U.S.-Pakistan relations. With over 45,000 members, PUAN is one of the largest alumni networks globally. As of October 1, 2024, PUAN membership is limited to U.S. government-funded exchange participants who traveled to the United States for at least five days.
The U.S. Consulate General Lahore oversees the Central Punjab, North Punjab, and South Punjab chapters, supporting alumni in advancing shared goals and promoting mutual understanding.
**English Language Training:** Our next largest investment is the English Access Scholarship Program (Access)which provides a foundation of English language skills to high school students from economically disadvantaged sectors through after-school classes and intensive sessions. Started in 2004, there are approximately 6,000 alumni from Multan, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Muzaffargarh and Lodhran.
**Cultural Preservation:** Punjab is a region rich in cultural heritage sites. Through theAmbassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, we are proud to have restored the Wazir Khan chowk, area adjacent to the Wazir Khan Mosque, in partnership with the Aga Khan Cultural Service – Pakistan and the Walled City of Lahore Authority.
We have also invested in the restoration of over a dozen archeological sites throughout Punjab, including Multan, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Uch Sharif, and Bahawalpur.
We are currently supporting the preservation and restoration of seven sites inside the Lahore Fort including Loh Temple, Sehdara Bangla Pavilion East, Imperial Zenana Mosque, Sikh-era Temple, financial support for technical assistance to conserve Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors) and its related structures, Sikh-era Hammam and adjacent Athdara Pavilion and the northeastern part of the Picture Wall with a surface area of 2,800 sq. meters.
In addition, we are also working to preserve the Ghata Ghar site in Multan. **Exchange Programs to the United States:** In the last 5 years, U.S. Consulate Lahore has sent nearly 500 Pakistani youth and professionals on a range ofU. S.
Department of State exchange programs. Pakistan also has one of the largest BinationalFulbright programs in the world.
