Public Media Infrastructure Leads Next Chapter of Collaboration and Innovation for Public Radio - Public Media Infrastructure Public Media Infrastructure Leads Next Chapter of Collaboration and Innovation for Public Radio November 18, 2025 –– Public Media Infrastructure (PMI) welcomes the resolution of recent legal proceedings surrounding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s (CPB) public radio interconnection grant, marking a new chapter of collaboration and innovation across the public media system.
PMI—a nonprofit established by public media leaders American Public Media Group (APMG), the National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB), New York Public Radio (NYPR), PRX , and the Station Resource Group (SRG)—was awarded a $47 million, five-year grant by CPB to develop the next generation of digital content distribution infrastructure and services for local public radio stations nationwide.
With the path forward now clear, PMI will move ahead in close partnership with stations coast to coast. Advancing multiplatform content delivery, audience analytics, and sponsorship tools designed to promote revenue growth, PMI will enable stations to remain vital sources of news and enriching programming for their communities.

PMI will empower stations of every size and locale to reach audiences wherever they are.

When smaller stations succeed, the entire system grows stronger. ” Public Media Infrastructure is an independent nonprofit organization established by American Public Media Group, the National Federation of Community Broadcasters, New York Public Radio, PRX, and the Station Resource Group to chart the next era of innovation and infrastructure for public radio.
PMI will develop modern tools for content distribution, audience measurement, and revenue generation to support more than 1,300 stations serving communities nationwide.
