Designed by MEDC in collaboration with the Michigan Municipal League, PSCP is a crowdgranting initiative that can provide matching grant funds for crowdfunded public space projects through Patronicity, an online, crowdfunding platform.

FY2025 saw 31 projects completed, from new murals for the Pleasant Peninsula Mural Festival in Grand Rapids to a new exhibit at the Besser Museum in Alpena. The building sat vacant for nearly 40 years before it was renovated by the Copper Country Curling Club. The club partnered with Patronicity to launch a community crowdfunding campaign supported by matching funds through MEDC’s Public Spaces, Community Places program.
Public Spaces Community Places Annual Report Public Spaces Community Places is a grant match program that utilizes donation-based crowdfunding to generate public interest and funding to revitalize or create public spaces. Communities, nonprofits, and municipalities can submit projects by applying for a Patronicity crowdgranting campaign.
Crowdgranting utilizes web-based donations, so projects are accessible to anyone willing to donate in real-time. In 2025, PSCP invested in 31 projects across the state of Michigan, with eight of these projects being universally accessible public spaces. The program reached a 97% success rate and included nine communities participating in the program for the first time.
