The Dallas Foundation Provides $310,000 to Support Those Affected by SNAP Disruptions Five Year-end Giving Tips Ask an Expert: Getting Kids Involved in Philanthropy Community Matters: Early Childhood Development 2. 0 A recent federal government shutdown temporarily delayed SNAP benefits. Thousands of North Texas families faced uncertainty about basic needs.
The Dallas Foundation responded quickly. We partnered with 15 local food providers and awarded $310,000 in emergency grants. These organizations serve communities most affected by the disruption.
Frontline providers are seeing higher demand as families navigate gaps in support. The grants help sustain and expand food distribution. They ensure families have access to food when stability matters most.
The grants support organizations in West Dallas, Southern Dallas, South Dallas, Pleasant Grove, Northwest Dallas, Southwest Dallas, East Dallas, and Oak Cliff. Even a short delay in benefits can create serious strain for families. Grants were awarded to the following organizations: Catholic Charities of Dallas St.
Philip’s Aunt Bette’s Food Pantry Sharing Life Community Outreach Inspired Vision Compassion Center Brother Bill’s Helping Hand Crossroads Community Services White Rock Center of Hope S. M. Wright Foundation / South Dallas Community Food Center “SNAP delays can create an immediate crisis for families who are already walking a financial tightrope,” said Vickie Allen , Chief Impact Officer.
“When families face unexpected gaps in food assistance, we have a responsibility to act quickly and work alongside the organizations who know their communities best. These emergency grants help ensure frontline providers can continue offering nourishment and stability during this challenging period. ” The Dallas Foundation remains committed to supporting Dallas families.
