Recreational Trails Program (RTP) Grants in AZ | Arizona State Parks Recreational Trails Program (RTP) Grants Recreational Trails Program (RTP) Grants The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a federal-aid assistance program established by Congress in 1991 to help states develop and maintain recreational trails.
The program is funded by a portion of the federal motor fuel taxes paid on fuel used for non-highway recreational purposes, such as in ATVs, snowmobiles, and other off-road vehicles. These funds are returned to the states through the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to provide grants for a wide variety of trail projects.
The RTP is a model of "users-pay, users-benefit," supporting the maintenance of existing trails, construction of new trails, and the development of trail-related facilities for both motorized and non-motorized recreation.
Available Funds: $1,820,000 Eligible Applicants: Federal, State, Local, County, and Tribal Governments and Non-Profits are eligible to apply Eligible Projects: Trail construction/maintenance, trail facilities (trailheads, restrooms, parking), and trail education. RTP applications are scheduled to open on July 31!
