The Office of Refugee Services | Health and Human Services North Dakota The Office of Refugee Services The Refugee Services Mission The Office of Refugee Services strives to develop community collaborations that strengthen and guide newcomers as they become welcomed neighbors and valued contributors to the economy. We ensure access to a wide array of resources by coordinating community-based refugee support services.
This model offers co-located services, a health navigator, and career navigation. Services are available to newcomers with an eligible immigration status who reside in North Dakota. Click the ‘Apply for Services’ button to get started.
Offered at Adult Learning Centers (ALCs) improves access by being the one-stop-shop for many community-based services. The ALCs are the place where refugees and newcomers begin to build relationships and develop the skills needed to thrive. In addition to the traditional ALC staff, Health Navigators and Career Navigators are co-located at the ALCs to minimize transportation barriers.
Explore ND Resources for Newcomers! The Refugee Welcome Collective developed a resource map to help sponsors and refugees locate important services in Bismarck, Fargo, and Grand Forks. In 2023, approximately half of the refugees arriving in North Dakota came through a private sponsorship program.
This means that a North Dakotan individual, or small group, directly supported refugees to find safe and legal migration pathways to rebuild their lives and contribute to new communities. New American Employment Program Training, employment and other support for refugees and other newly arrived individuals so they can live, work and thrive in their new communities.
Virtual case management connects refugees with essential support services remotely, ensuring accessible and consistent guidance during resettlement. Short-term temporary assistance to support eligible refugees and other Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) as they work toward self-sufficiency. A medical screening (RMS) also known as a health assessment is an important first step to receive medical care.
Refugee Health and Wellness Promotes the health and well-being of refugees and newcomers. The Refugee Health Navigator connects refugees and newcomers to the healthcare system. Health and Wellness Master Resource Hub The Health and Wellness Master Resource Hub provides families and service providers with trusted health information in one place.

English Language Learning ELL opportunities at Adult Learning Centers and for remote learners. Free, low-cost, and private immigration services and providers.
Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program Specialized foster care services to prepare unaccompanied refugee minors for a successful transition to adulthood. The Language Guide provides helpful tips and tools to support individuals and service providers in communicating across language barriers. The Employer Language Guide offers practical tips for improving communication and ensuring a clear understanding in the workplace.
