A statewide initiative, the work is made possible by generous anonymous supporters and AFT’s national Brighter Future Fund. Launched in 2020, the Brighter Future Fund helps farmers nationwide navigate challenges from climate impacts to market volatility—while advancing equity, resilience, and opportunity across agriculture.
In Virginia, these resources power Regenerate Virginia’s mission to advance regenerative practices, protect farmland, and strengthen agricultural communities across the Commonwealth. The Farm Vitality Grant helps Virginia farmers strengthen the long-term health and sustainability of their operations. These funds support individualized, substantive business consulting and planning services that drive meaningful change. Awards: Up to $25,000 per producer.
Track 1: Equipment that supports regenerative systems, diversification, and profitability. Track 2: Business planning and professional services to advance regenerative practices or improve long-term financial and operational health. Track 3: Product or market expansion that builds farm viability and aligns with regenerative agriculture principles.

In collaboration with the Virginia Soil Health Coalition , AFT’s Healthy Soils Grant encourages producers and partners to pilot impactful ideas that accelerate the adoption of soil health–building systems. This grant supports innovative approaches that go beyond current standards — filling gaps and addressing barriers not covered by other programs. Awards: Up to $30,000 for a single producer or $50,000 for a group.
Focus: On-farm innovation, soil-building practices, and systems transformation that enhance resilience and profitability. Note: Spanish translation resources coming week of November 24.
