South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics Grants for research linking economics and the environment in South Asia Principal Office: International The South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) brings together South Asian researchers and institutes interested in the inter-connections among development, poverty, and the environment.
SANDEE aims to build professional skills of South Asians to address local and global environmental concerns. It offers research grants; it sponsors education and training; and it engages in policy discussions and other outreach strategies. The seven countries in the SANDEE network are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Grant Programs for Agriculture, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources Regular Research Grants . SANDEE invites competitive research proposals that link economic development, poverty, and the environment. The three thematic areas are: Economics of climate change; and Policies and programs for greener development.
SANDEE favors multi-disciplinary projects with a strong economics component. It gives priority to cross-border collaboration and trans-boundary projects. Most grants are about US$25 thousand, with some that may reach US$50 thousand for larger multi-country and multi-disciplinary projects.
APPLICATION : SANDEE generally invites research pre-proposals two times a year. After screening the pre-proposals, SANDEE’s Secretariat invites short-listed applicants to submit full proposals. Grants are to individual researchers through their institutions.
Each principal investigator must have an institutional affiliation.
