May 21, 2024 – Getting Cashback for Clean Energy: Direct Pay Tax Credits for Nonprofits The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Renew America’s Nonprofits Program is hosting a webinar this Tuesday, May 21 at 1PM ET highlighting a new funding opportunity: Elective Pay (also called “direct pay”).

As a result of the Inflation Reduction Act, nonprofits are now eligible to receive direct cash payments equal to the full value of tax credits for qualifying clean energy or transportation projects. We are pleased to partner with the DOE's Office of Policy to present this webinar.

Hospitals, housing providers, religious institutions, and other community-based organizations are invited to learn more about eligible technologies and how tax-exempt entities can take advantage of tax credits worth up to 70% of the project cost.

June 14, 2024 – Apply Today for the Next Round of Clean Energy to Communities (C2C) In-Depth Partnerships Communities can submit proposals for up to $500,000 in funding and $3,500,000 in technical assistance from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for over three years to develop secure, reliable, resilient, equitable, and affordable clean energy systems.

Eligibility: All applying teams must include at least one community-based organization, in addition to a local government and an electric utility. Deadline: Submit your proposal by June 14 .

July 16, 2024 – Biden-Harris Administration Invests $54 Million to Expand Clean Transportation Across American Communities The Biden-Harris Administration announced a $54 million Communities Taking Charge Accelerator funding opportunity through President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to enhance electric mobility in communities without access to home charging infrastructure and to transition all types of fleets to electric vehicles.

It also focuses on developing managed charging solutions to optimize grid efficiency and integrate renewable energy to promote sustainability, economic growth, and community health. Eligibility: Community organizations, academic institutions, Department of Energy-designated Clean Cities coalitions, and other types of entities are eligible. Partnerships are also encouraged to apply.

Deadline: Applicants must submit a concept paper by May 20, 2024 , and full applications are due July 16, 2024 . July 10, 2024 – Call for Communities to Join the Energy Transitions Initiatives Partnership Project The U.S. DOE invites remote and island communities aiming to address their energy resilience challenges to apply to the Energy Transitions Initiative Partnership Project (ETIPP).

Communities will create and pursue energy resilience projects defined by their local priorities and goals, using technical assistance from strategic energy analysts at DOE national laboratories and regional partner organizations. This first-of-its-kind investment in the nonprofit sector aims to help nonprofits make high-impact energy efficiency improvements that will create cleaner, healthier community spaces, while generating sustainable savings so that critical funds can be redirected toward mission-driven work.

It also aims to stimulate widespread energy improvements in the nonprofit sector, promoting the formation of partnerships between stakeholders to create a pipeline of energy and cost-saving projects that will continue beyond the life of the grant .

State and Local Solution Center The State and Local Solution Center is an online technical assistance portal that provides technical assistance resources to enable strategic investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies through the use of innovative practices across the United States by a wide range of stakeholders, in partnership with state and local organizations and community-based nonprofits.

The State and Local Solution Center is managed by DOE's Office of State and Community Energy Programs (SCEP).

SCEP supports DOE's mission to accelerate the research, development, demonstration, and deployment of technologies and solutions to equitably transition America to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions economy-wide by no later than 2050, and ensure the clean energy economy benefits all Americans, creating good paying jobs for the American people—especially workers and communities impacted by the energy transition and those historically underserved by the energy system and overburdened by pollution.
