Apply Now for Renfro Trust Grant Finance and Administration Connectional Ministries & Spiritual Leadership Faith Community Formation Finance and Administration Connectional Ministries & Spiritual Leadership Faith Community Formation Apply Now for Renfro Trust Grant FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 9, 2025 Each year the Renfro Trust Fund awards brick-and-mortar grants to small United Methodist congregations across the Southeastern Jurisdiction, SEJ, of The United Methodist Church.
Small membership is noted in the guidelines as churches having 50-200 on the church roll. The guidelines and application have been updated this year, so please review the new guidelines and application carefully. Click here to view the 2025 Renfro Trust Fund guidelines and application.
Because each conference can forward only three applications to the SEJ committee that issues the grant, please consider the following suggestions: Read the guidelines carefully. Share the guidelines with others in your church that may assist with your church’s application. Review the application thoroughly.
Start gathering information the day you receive this email. It may take longer than you think. The 2025 deadline is August 8 .
Note that the application must be typed, except for required signatures. Answer every item on pages 1-3 of the application with complete and thorough information. Clearly state in the narrative portions of the application how the Renfro Grant will assist your church in mission and ministry.
Attach the church’s financial report from the most recent fiscal year. Get all required signatures (pastor, church board chair and district superintendent) before you submit the application to the conference office. Applications will not go forward without required signatures or the church financial report.
The maximum amount given is $5,000 so it is important that you share the detailed plans of where you are in the project. Being close to completion of a project might help your chances of receiving a grant. Submit the completed application directly to the conference office by August 8 .
