Reparative Housing Justice Fund — Affordable Housing Partnership Homeownership Center Reparative Housing Justice Fund The Carl E. Touhey Foundation seeks to undo the historic and continuing injustice and inequality created through redlining and discriminatory housing policies and practices that people of color, Black communities in particular, experience when attempting to purchase a home of their own.
The Reparative Housing Justice Fund (RHJF) offers grants of up to $10,000 to assist Black, first-time homebuyers purchase a home in the cities of Albany, Cohoes, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Troy, Watervliet, Amsterdam or Green Island. RHJF grants may be used to address a variety of financial barriers to homeownership, including down payment and closing costs. RHJF grants must be used for costs associated with purchasing a home.
Funds are intended for first-time homebuyers who identify as Black/African American. To assist those with the most need, funds are available to those with less than $40,000 in liquid assets, subject to verification. By mail or in person: Affordable Housing Partnership, 255 Orange St. , Albany, NY 12210 Approved applicants will receive an award letter with further guidance regarding distribution of funds. AHP requests 5 business days’ notice of closing date to process and disburse funds.
